Pill Corps Prayer

Pill Corps Prayer

Pill is a funny name for a place. We have heard every joke about our need to keep taking the tablets and does our CSM write the announcements on tablets of stone?

One advantage of the name Pill is that it is memorable and it is our hope that once they get past the very obvious and usually tedious jokes people will then immediately make the association, "Oh that's the Corps that prays!"

The line of the song “Prayer is the Christians vital breathe” is often quoted to give weight to the vital nature of prayer for the individual but at Pill we see that this is absolutely true corporately as well. We are finding that praying together draws our own community tighter together but at the same time helps us touch a wider world.

At the Hall

In the hall there are two designated areas for prayer. The upstairs Prayer Room is usually themed and there is a quiet area set aside in the corner of the hall which is particularly useful for those who are unable to access the Prayer Room. These are available for use any time the hall is open and on request.

Daily

A Prayer List is issued quarterly and identifies a different group of people connected to the Corps to pray for each day.

Weekly

There is an early start Prayer meeting on Tuesday mornings and a Prayer Walk around the village on Wednesday evenings. These prayer meetings also provide a Prayer Shield for a group of Christians in Bristol called Peacemakers Prayer Patrol. For more information on the Prayer Patrol go to:

Fortnightly

Pill is transitioning towards becoming a Cell-based Corps and prayer is at the heart of our Cell Groups which formally meet fortnightly. Prayer is essential to the worship focus of a cell group and also part of our strategy for winning the people the group know whom they long to see come to Christ.

Monthly

Prayer features strongly in all our worship meetings but one Sunday evening a month we have a Prayer Focus. Usually this involves teaching on a different aspect of prayer such as Petition or Intercession.

Bi-Monthly

Pray for a Day is a prayer initiative where the hall is open for 12 hours for folk to drop in to spend time in personal prayer and to pray for the prayer requests that have come in through email from the UKT. This ministry continues to grow each time we do it. Following the Pray for a Day, the requests are distributed to the Sunday morning congregation so that the prayer can continue after the event.
